I can tell this is going to be the week of long quotes on my blog. :)
"Teaching on Christian holiness has frequently concentrated almost exclusively on the “holy man” or the “holy woman,” to the neglect of the biblical concern for “the holy people” or the “holy church.” The ideal of the “omnicompetent Christian individual,” able to meet every spiritual challenge and live a life of unbroken victory over sin and the devil, has undoubtedly produced remarkable examples of Christian character; but, as every Christian counsellor knows, this emphasis has driven many to a lonely struggle ending in despair and disillusionment, or, worse, in the hypocrisy of a double-standard life. . . All the major exhortations to holy living are plural — “we,” “you” (Ro. 6:1-23; Gal 5:13-6:10; Eph 4:17-6:18)...Similarly all the New Testament promises of
victory are corporate (1Co 15:57; 1Jn 5:4; Rev 15:2)."
Bruce Milne, Know the Truth (Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press,1982), p. 194.
So, what's your take?

Compare and Contrast:

"To answer the question posed by that title, [Why Small Groups?], let me present what I see to be 4 clear goals from Scripture:
progressive sanctification
mutual care
fellowship
and
the ministry of the Holy Spirit."
C.J.Mahaney, 'Why Small Groups?

"Our primary goal for both Growth Groups and Wednesday Night Fellowship is to experience Christ in our midst in His presence and power. We want Him to be at work by His Spirit ministering to us and through us to one another to the end that people are cared for and encouraged to live God-pleasing lives. We want Christ to transform and change our lives."

Yesterday I was dumb. I went running (3-4 miles) at 11:15. I justified it because it was cloudy when I left. That lasted maybe 10 min. But the run was maybe 45 min. long. Funny, I didn't feel like running today.

We are in! Thanks to a lot of hard work from a lot of people.

I met this puppy while at a workshop in Dallas. I wanted to take him home with me. I think Cal was glad I flew.

Can you guess what the topic of this practice teaching lesson is?

Activity: 'Write a song about what you have learned in this workshop. Sing it for the rest of the class.' Hmmmmmmm. 'Learning that LASTS' - To the Tune of 'Dixie'.

Most of y'all have heard, but just in case, here's the news -- we're moving on the 29th of April!

Some of you have known us long enough to probably be saying "again?!!", or to barely notice this email, it's so common. :) But this time, it barely seems like a real move cause we're only going 8 miles away! We'll be living in the Greater Belhaven Neighbourhood, in an apartment at LEAST 2 miles from the train track! No more waking up all night! It has hardwood floors, allows animals and is lower priced, too, which is all hard to take.

So if we seem distracted these days . . . sorry, what did you say? . . . we'll be back in May. :)

If anyone likes to move boxes or clean and wants to come join us, we'll be having a box-and-pizza party on April 29 (Saturday). (If you like to move pianos, even better! Don't worry, we only have one. :) )

Blessings,
Christel and Cal
